Amsterdam – geweldige plek!

Ola!
Finally I have some time off to blog about my trip to Amsterdam! Great to see my hard work after the trip paying off with fantastic results!

Alrite! Back to the trip, it was a five day trip with 100% attendance from the Malaysian gang!

We stayed at the Meininger Hostel in Amsterdam Sloterdijk for about 85 Euros for 4 nights. The hostel is just beside the station, making the journey so much simpler and it is just a stop away from Amsterdam Central where the city centre is.

However, using their train services is not cheap! It will cost you about just under 4 Euros for a one way trip. So it will cost about 7++ euros for a return trip. And so we bought the Amsterdam Card for 3days for 60euros which allowed us unlimited services to the tram, bus and underground services in the city.

The card also allows you to visit a total of 400 museums in Amsterdam! (Trust me, you won’t be able to see all). I strongly recommend the card as it gives you the many access to museums in Musuemplein, including the overrated Van Gogh Museum.

DSC_0177There are two museums that we went but were not included in the card, Body World and Rijksmuseum. Strongly strongly suggest one to go for Body World if human bodies does not disgust you and for those who wants to learn more about yourself inside out! Definitely one of a kind museum to go to. The dead bodies are real and donor agreed to have their body donated to the museum for it and I personally think it’s a cool way to use body for science and art!

Love beer? Head over to the Heineken Experience! The famous brewery begins its little story over here before becoming a super brand in the brewing industry. Had a really great time learning how the pints we drink were brewed and of course, making my own pint!

Finally, its red light district time! Seriously, this place is an eye opener for someone from a conservative country like me. We went to a small museum that dedicates its history to the area and it’s so sad that some were cheated into the sex trade. And of course some that are willing people who came for the money. Anyway my eyes love it but we didn’t do anything there! (No pictures taken!)

Take a train to Zaanse Schans and you will see the traditional side of Netherlands with its famous windmills. This place is a wonderful place with some residents still living in little islands that were formed from the canal.
